University Honours Fashion Project 2021
Triathlon de la Mode Ethique - Paris Olympics 2024
Oceania Representitive
In June 2023, Laura had the incredible honour of being invited by Redress to represent Oceania in the Triathlon de la Mode Ethique, a Paris-based competition hosted by Universal Love. This unique event celebrates the intersection of fashion, sport, and sustainability in the lead-up to the Paris Olympics.
The challenge? To create a fashion piece using recycled sportswear or athletic gear. Laura chose to work with reclaimed equestrian leather—specifically, an old bridle traditionally worn by horses—giving it a new life in a fashion-forward context. Laura was recognised as a semi-finalist in the competition.
Laura also had the joy of seeing her piece on display at the exhibition in August of 2024 in Paris, France, and even better, got to experience it in the most fun way possible: rollerblading around the rink where the entire collection is being showcased. An unforgettable moment surrounded by so many inspiring works from all around the World.
Redress Design Awards - Hong Kong 2022
Semi-Finalist
In 2022, Laura was selected as one of 30 semi-finalists in the prestigious Redress Design Award —recognized as the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition. Based in Hong Kong, the competition spotlights emerging designers who are driving change in the fashion industry through circular and environmentally responsible design.
Laura’s Redress Design Award collection, Let Me Be Me, reimagines business casual wear by embracing femininity and inclusivity for all body types. Each piece is thoughtfully designed with adaptability in mind—featuring details like detachable pockets and adjustable straps to allow for changes in fit, function, and occasion.
The collection is crafted from upcycled secondhand textiles, including vintage curtains and fabric swatches—primarily cotton—chosen for their durability, comfort, and recyclability. With a focus on sustainability and longevity, Let Me Be Me proves that fashion can be both expressive and responsible.
The aim of my fourth-year University honours project was to create unique garments made from 100% recycled fabrics, curtains, and old sheets.
The garments are modern, elegant, voluminous, and dramatic, designed to enchant anyone inspired by the romanticism of the 18th century and fairytale dreams of the imagination that guarantees to take you back in time.
